How To Select an LCD TV Wall Mount
You've purchased your family a new LCD TV that you are looking to wall mount. But how do you know what's the best wall mount for your purposes? The following article lists a couple of things to think about when you are in the market for an LCD wall mount.
Once, each wall mount and TV manufacturer used their own system, and because of that it wasn't easy to decide which wall mount went with what television. Currently, all manufacturers have decided on a basic setup which permits the purchase of mounts that are universal. This not only will save you time and money, but the pre drilled holes in the back of the television make mounting them a great deal less difficult than it once was.
When you open up your run of the mill universal TV wall mount kit, you will see a plate that goes on the wall and brackets that go on the back of the TV. The brackets are made specifically to fit the holes that have been pre drilled into the back of the TV.
Now, even though it's a universal kit in its hardware, there are mount alternatives on the market that you'll want to think about prior to getting one. For example, if what you want is a very clean look, you should check out the standard, basic mount. A standard mount will keep the TV within one inch of the wall. Keep in mind, however, with this type, you cannot tilt the TV in any way so you have to be mindful about where it's mounted on the wall, considering where you'd like the prime viewing area to be.
If you are thinking you want to shift the angle of the TV display, then you will want to look at a tilt wall mount. The style is close to the standard model, but the TV display is held a little further away from the wall. This additional space allows the TV display to be adjusted and tilted. The tilt's degree will vary, depending on the model and make of the wall mount.
If you opt for the tilt style you are going to want to look at the way the mount moves. A few wall mounts will move with just your hand due to the fact that it moves on a ratchet system. Other models require a special device to adjust the angle of the TV display. If you think you're going to be changing the position of the display every so often, it might be worth the added money to buy the ratchet system for accessibility and easiness of the movement.
If you prefer to be able to move to different places in the room and not sit on the exact same part of the couch all the time, you may want to look into a wall mount that permits the television to be pulled from the wall and adjusted and tilted for nearly infinite positions. These are referred to as articulating wall brackets.
So, if you are looking at brackets for your TV, be certain you look at all of the areas the TV will be watched so you can get the one that will work the best for your circumstances.
