I am the owner of a pair of dachshunds Jack and Jill . Jill who is the queen of the house is only seventeen pounds and Jack comes in at 19 pounds. Someone elses misfortune was my luck as the last owners passed away 3 years ago about a year apart. I had no intention of fostering these wieners.The amazing thing is I have had 4 litters to date. .Doxie puppies are without a shadow of doubt the coolest dogs ever. . When Jill had her first litter I wasn't home . I didn't understand she was so near to having the pups because when I got her she was already pregnant. When I arrived home I found one pup on my lounge. We found more puppies behind the toilet,one was still in the sack and not breathing.

Jill was frighted of the dachshund puppies . I had to lay her down and put the dog on her to suckle . Fortunately about an hour or so later Jill took to the new little fellow so we were all delighted. . At that stage we were passably confident that the pup behind the toilet was the only one left.

3 hours further on after such a painful day we decided to turn in. We took Jill and her baby dachsund up with us so we could keep an eye on them. . Once they were both glad lying down in their box my husband turned off the light. . However just as he was turning the switch off he thought he could hear a little screech .

He opened the door and followed the sound to the bed room across the hall. . What he found was another puppy lying in the bed with my other dog Jade. She was cleaning it. Jade is an 88 lb rottweiler so to say my husband was gobsmacked would be something of an irony.

Jade has never had a dachshund before . She does however produce milk when Jill has puppies . Jade is fairly sure that Jills puppys are her own and Jill even lets her feed her . They lay with her all the time. Jill dosn't seem to mind. Jade is very caring of the pups but she acts like Skippy and Jack are her pups too . They sleep in one big pile Skippy,Jill,Jade and the babies. .

I have never seen so many dog sitters for a miniature dachshund. They launch themselves from a great distance onto poor old Jade yet she likes it . She just lays there waggling her tail or plays with them. She jumps onto them and they jump straight back at her. .She has never hurt one even by mistake big as she is .
